9 Grass Cloth (Canton Linen)
A plain weave fabric made in China from ramie yarns. It is woven on hand looms in coarse reeds and with few picks. The natural lustre of the yams is not interfered with, as the fabric is used in the loom state. A small quantity is dyed blue, or bleached and used for dresses, but the bulk of the cloth is used for table covers in the loom state. Widths are 15-in. or 16-in. and lengths 30 yards, made on native looms. 10 Arras Cloth
A loosely woven fabric made from jute, in wide widths, dyed, used for curtains, table and cushion covers. A better cloth is made from coarse linen yarns as below: - 46 X 42, 50 / 42's linen, plain weave. The term was first applied to woven stuffs made at Arras, France, in the 14th century, which were decorated with simple patterns for use as hangings in rooms. It was originally called Opus Saracenicum. -

A cloth on the American market used for the manufacture of shopping bags, book covers and embroidery mats. It is the product of an East African tree of the genus " fiscus." The fibre is easily spun although the staple is short. -

14 Silk Bolting Cloth
A Swiss fabric used by flour millers. It is used to sift any ground material. It is made in pieces or in covers to fit any machine or appliance. Only the best Italian silk yarn is used and the fabric is carefully woven on hand looms and the texture is most uniform. It is elastic and of exceptional strength. The weavers do the work in their own homes. Standard width is 40-in., but it is also made 24-in., 28-in., and 34-in. wide. Made in numerous qualities and all are plain weave.
